ROBERT W. IS INSANE!!!Jan 31, 2003
By Scott C Elliott
"NUBUZZ"
First of all I am appalled at some of your editor reviewers. What planet do some of them come from? Luther - the man who put the dance band CHANGE on the map, the man who did the amazing vocal arrangements for David Bowie's groundbreaking YOUNG AMERICANS & toured with Bowie for many years, who lulled us all into love in the 80's - has the chops & then some with some truly great albums. And this one, with I Wonder, Any Love (whew!), For You To Love (Ouch!! Incredible!!), I Wonder & the cover of Love Won't Let Me Wait (This song nearly belongs to HIM now!!!)Pretty much all of his recordings until Power of Love, which in my opinion is the beginning of his potency loss. Sorry, but as great as Barry White is, Luther could mop the floor with him. And he is right up there with AL Green. I don't wish to compare these great men, however. But the Wilonsky must be doing some bad drugs if he thinks for one minute he knows of what he speaks!!! Anyone who agrees with me, give me an amen!!! I saw Luther live on tour with Anita Baker in NYC when this album was out and he nearly blew Ms. Baker off the stage. And this was when she could do no wrong (early in her boom period). He had the women in the audience nearly fainting in their seats and the men hooping & hollering & slapping five to his power. These days it seems his selection & production may need a bit of viagra, but he's still the King of Romance, with maybe MAXWELL at his heels. Make no mistake - LUTHER IS THE GREATEST!!! Amen!!!

Any LoveJun 05, 2001
By Brenda Taylor This was my intro to smooth voiced Luther. I'm buying the CD to replace the worn out tape. I just love (this is going to get a bit "lovey") Are You Gonna Love Me? and I Came Here For You to Love. I don't think there's a song on here that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed! I don't know what Robert Wilonsky is on about in his editorial review. I strongly disagree. If you like Luther, then Any Love is a timeless must have. So many hours spent driving down the H2 highway with windows/sunroof open and Luther cranking as I bopped and sung along soaking up the Hawaiian sunshine and/or moonlight! (Lots of memories here - sorry)

ANY LOVE, ANY TIME, AWESOME!!!.Jul 28, 2010

"MR CELESTIAL"
I just don't get it,the critics list this magical album as a disapointment, but I strongly disagree!!. This must be a setup!!.If you have any taste for excelent music, then it's hard not to love ANY LOVE!!.The magical voice, instrumental arrangements, the full range of emotions are all here, nothing has diminished!!.
Check out songs like "I WONDER","COME BACK",the titlecut, "ANY LOVE" and "ARE YOU GONNA LOVE ME" are all perfect, sweet and mellow ballards displaying pain and regret!!.I truly love each cut!.
Again his remake of "LOVE WON'T LET ME WAIT" is so mellow, so great!. "SHE WON'T TALK TO ME" a real uptempo effort,a finger snapper. "I KNOW YOU WANT TO", "FOR YOU TO LOVE" my very favourite here and the closing piece "THE SECOND TIME AROUND" are all excellent hopeful masterpieces which are the essence of LUTHER VANDROSS. This strong album is right on par with his previous releases. Listen it and put them critics to rest!!. I strongly recomend this album it to all,a collectible!!. A must have!!.

Second Time Around Makes The CDJun 12, 2006
By J. Laster Track #9, Second Time Around makes this album/ cd worth the purchase.
In 1976 Luther Vandross first released this song, then titled "The 2nd Time Around" for the now defunct Cotillion Record label. Cotillion operated from 1960 - 1985 as a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.
Luther and his then three member group, recorded two albums on the Cotillion label under the name LUTHER. The album containing this song (Cotillion SD 9907) was titled "Luther" also, and contained seven songs, all written by Mr Vandross. The most memorable song was "The 2nd Time Around", (side one, song #2, six minutes, twenty five seconds long).
After receiving much fan fare and questions as a solo artist about The 2nd Time Around, Luther decided to re-release the song. I guess that explains the slight change in the title of the re-release. However, the words and music are still the same. Needless to say, the song is priceless and pure Luther!
Now, if you go waaaaay back with Luther as I do, even before the group Change and songs The Glow of Love and Searching, this cd is a must.
The re-release of track #9 is timeless. It makes the cd a FIVE! Currently this song is not available on any other Luther cd or boxed set.
